Preparation time
- Prep Time: 5-10 minutes
- Cook Time: 10-20 minutes
- Total Time: 15-30 minutes
- Serving: 8-10 medium-sized pancakes, serving 2-4 people
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the egg, then stir in the milk, melted butter or oil, and vanilla extract (if using).
- combine: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. It's okay if there are a few lumps in the batter. Avoid overmixing, as it can lead to tough pancakes.
- Preheat Griddle or Pan: Preheat a non-stick griddle or frying pan over medium heat. You can lightly grease the cooking surface with butter or oil if needed.
- Cook Pancakes: Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the preheated griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
- flip: Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- serve: Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate chips.
Feel free to customize the recipe by adding ingredients like chocolate chips, blueberries, or bananas to the batter for extra flavor. You can also adjust the thickness of the batter by adding more milk for thinner pancakes or more flour for thicker ones. Enjoy your homemade pancakes!
